Hooked on Vino and Perfectly Paired are made by The Century System. We use your information to provide your account, protect your access and help you continue your learning. Questions and requests go to HOV@thecenturysystem.com.

What we keep and why

We keep the name you ask us to use, your certificate name, your email if supplied, your confirmation that you are 21 or older, your purchases, keys, progress, certificates and email choices. Wine experience, region and referral information are optional. We use these details to operate Hooked on Vino, provide Perfectly Paired, process orders, issue certificates, answer questions and restore your access.

A necessary cookie keeps you connected to your account. Your four-digit recovery code is protected and cannot be read back to you. Progress is stored on our server; security and recovery measures reduce the risk of loss, but no online system can promise uninterrupted access or freedom from errors or data loss. Payment providers handle payment-card details when used; Hooked on Vino does not store your card number.

Pre-orders and access support

Before ordering opens, the Pre-order form stores your name, email and selected products so we can send the availability notice you request. It does not take payment or create a paid order. Ongoing Hooked on Vino news is a separate choice. We also keep key-opening and failed-attempt dates, last-seen dates and approximate visits to help with access problems.

Authorized support staff can access recoverable keys and cancel them when needed to help with access or protect an account.

Your personal gift key

A gift key lets you open your personal account. You enter your own name and email when you open the key. Hooked on Vino holds those details. The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and the Société Mondiale du Vin do not receive your name or email through this gift-key process.

If you instead choose to activate through the provincial Membership service, that service verifies your membership and supplies the identity needed for activation. These are separate ways to enter. We do not send Hooked on Vino profile you enter for a gift key back to either organization.

Who can see your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Authorized people operating the service can access the information needed for their work. Hosting, email, payment and support providers may process information needed to provide those services. We may also retain or disclose information when required by law. Your private messages and profile are not visible to other players.

We also use aggregate counts of visits, orders and question answers to understand and improve the experience. Optional feedback you send is read by the authorized Founder’s Desk.

News and offers are your choice

When you enter an email, the news box starts ticked. This applies to buyers and gift-key members. Untick it before continuing if you would rather not receive Hooked on Vino news, new-Century announcements and special offers. Without an email address there is no news subscription.

Every Hooked on Vino news or offer email has an unsubscribe link that needs no sign-in. Open it and tap “Unsubscribe from news and offers.” Confirm your choice on the page to stop news and offers. You can also use your email service’s unsubscribe option where available.

You may also untick the news box in your Hooked on Vino details or write to our contact address. Opening another key or changing devices does not override an earlier unsubscribe. You can explicitly subscribe again from your details, unless you have asked us to stop all email. Unsubscribing from news does not cancel purchases or delete progress. Receipts, requested certificates and account correspondence are separate from news; a request to stop all email also stops certificate emails.

Certificates

A certificate page shows your chosen certificate name, Century, date and certificate number. Anyone with its link can open it. It does not show your email address. Deleting your certificate details removes that page.

Changing or deleting your details

You can change your details in Hooked on Vino. “Delete my details” removes your profile and certificate pages and stops Hooked on Vino news for the address. Your purchases, keys and progress remain so you can keep using what you bought.

Write to HOV@thecenturysystem.com to request deletion of your profile and an end to all email. After verifying the request, we can delete your profile and certificate pages, remove identifying details from matching feedback and queued certificate or news emails, and stop further email. Purchases and progress remain unless you separately request account closure. We retain necessary order records for refund, tax and related recordkeeping, and the minimum suppression record needed to honor your choice. Those records are not used as a marketing list.

If you want your account and progress removed too, say so in your request. We will explain the effect on access before doing that. Copies you downloaded or forwarded, including exported lists or certificates, cannot be remotely removed. Some information may remain in backups or records we must retain; contact us with questions about those records.

Automated order email records

We normally retain the content of automated purchase and availability emails for 90 days. We retain necessary order and delivery records for access, refunds and recordkeeping. Copies in your inbox, backups and personal correspondence may remain longer.
